Our Program Philosophy

Mariposas Bilingual Learning Center provides a preschool experience in a Bilingual Model, giving children as young as 2 years old access to learn a new language. Throughout our program the social, emotional, and cognitive development of children will be fostered through a balanced blend of project-based and thematic based learning. Children are taught math, literacy, science, and social skills through games, music, movement, art, stories, outdoor activities, and gardening. 

It is important to us for children to explore and learn at their own pace. Our daily lessons take into consideration the various learning styles of every child and will differentiate to make each learning experience unique and meaningful. Children at Mariposas will be in a multi-aged setting which is helps develop a sense of family with their classmates. They become a "family of learners" who support and care for each other. 

Our goal is to give children the tools they need to be successful when entering Kindergarten while fostering a innate love for learning. While a Mariposas we will focus on the following school readiness skills that will keep your child on track to succeed in school.

Exploring my World Early Learning Preschool Program  2 Years Old

Our, Exploring My World Early Learning Program, is a full day preschool program that provides your toddler with a wide array of hands on learning opportunities to help your child learn and grow. Our home based program encourages children to ignite their curiosity about the world they live by exploring, playing, making inferences and developing their own sense of purpose.  

Our classroom is designed to provide each child with a safe and nurturing environment that will stimulate learning while encouraging them to explore the world around them. In an effort to build a love for learning and encourage cooperative learning, children are introduced to the concept of center play in a multi -aged group setting. Furthermore, our bilingual curriculum provides a strong vocabulary enriched base so that literary skills may be introduced to children in both English and Spanish. Teachers will speak to children in both English and Spanish providing them with the necessary exposure to learn a new language. 

yes I Can/ Yo Si Puedo pre-k Program 3-4 Years Old

Our, Pre-K Program, is tailored and individualized to meet the needs of your soon to be Kindergartner. We focus on building their confidence, critical thinking skills and use their senses to learn and explore their environment. We provide the children with various age appropriate and engaging activities that build the foundations for learning to read and write. Our program aims at the holistic development of a child's social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs in order to build a solid and broad foundation for lifelong learning and wellbeing.

Our Thematic Based Bilingual Curriculum introduces several learning concepts such as literacy, math, and critical thinking skills in both English and Spanish. Vocabulary development is very important at this stage too, as children will begin to learn the art of writing. Learning in a multi-aged classroom, our Pre-K students will have the opportunity to serve as mentors to their younger classmates and to take leadership roles which will foster cooperation and build their self esteem.

Before and afterschool 

Our before and after school program is here to help parents who need a little support getting children on and off the bus worry free. Gayhead Elementary and Van Wyck bus routes come to the front to our home to pick up and drop children off. 

In the morning we will help mentally prepare your children for a day of learning . When they return to us after school, your school aged children will have a snack, enjoy some physical activiites outdoors and get support with homework if necesary.
